This blog will guide you on how to make port forwarding in pfsense. Port forwarding is used in accessing a specific network device remotely specifying a port. It uses NAT to locate the ip address of that device you want to access remotely via internet.
Accessing your CCTV remotely is one example using this port forwarding capabilities of pfsense. For this tutorial, I will guide you the important steps on setting up port forwarding in pfsense on a CCTV device.
1. Start setting up port forwarding by going to pfsense menu -> firewall -> NAT and click on add button.
2. After clicking on add plus sign button, you will be landed to the port forward setup page.
Just leave all settings to its default except for the others I will be setting up below.
Interface - WAN
Protocol - TCP/UDP , you can use tcp. To ensure that all CCTV functionality will work, just choose bot tcp and udp protocols.
Destination Port Range - mostly, http will do for accessing your CCTV remotely.

Redirect target IP - this is the local ip address of your CCTV device. See my example image above. I've setup my CCTV ip address to 192.168.1.100. If ever one would like to access remotely the CCTV, pfsense will redirect to this ip address with a specified port.
Redirect target Port - this is the most important to setup. You will have to specify a unique port to your CCTV device. It is up to you what port as long as it will not conflict to the standard ports like 80, 21 and so on. Its better to use high port numbers because its safer to use.
Just leave others to its default and click on save button. Then try to access your cctv remotely if all works like a charm. To test, on your browser address bar, type in the public ip address of your modem or your wan connection. To know your public ip address, just search on google and type what is my ip. Note your ip and append the port number you specify in your port forwarding setup just like this. http://121.54.212.2:8035. I hope this one works for you.
